As concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic escalate across the U.S. the CPYFA Board of Directors is committed to ensuring the safety of all parents, coaches and athletes as our first priority. With the recent announcement of two confirmed coronavirus cases in Austin and the closure of AISD schools on Friday March 13th, the CPYFA BOD is taking steps to ensure we are doing our part to keep our community safe and healthy.
The good news is that we are predominantly a fall-sports oriented organization, so our responses can be measured and proportionate to the health environment at the time.
Our immediate concern is the impact to our inaugural spring season of Flex Football. After close coordination with our national partners, CPYFA will postpone the start of our spring season of Flex football to April 17th. This postponement will have ripple effects on game scheduling and game locations, but we believe we can work with our Flex parents to ensure this change is as pain free as possible. If you or a loved-one are impacted by this postponement and would like additional information, please share your questions and concerns with us by sending them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
As COVID-19 continues its inevitable spread throughout our community CPYFA will continue to closely monitor the health and safety situation in Cedar Park. We encourage all coaches and parents to practice preventative measures as recommended by the CDC.
Stay healthy out there!
