Head Coaches

  1. Register as a coach/ volunteer and be able to pass a background check

  2. Be Concussion certified* (Cheer & Tackle)

  3. Be USA Football or AYC coaching certified* (Cheer & Tackle)

  4. Be Hawk Tackling certified* (Tackle)

  5. Be CPR certified (Cheer & Tackle)

  6. Ycada certified (Cheer)

If you are new to the organization, you are encouraged to purchase a CPYFA Coach shirt from our CPYFA Fan Store

Assistant Coaches

  1. Register as a coach/ volunteer and be able to pass a background check

  2. Be Concussion certified* (Cheer & Tackle)

* Print all certifications and give them to your head coach​ or team parent

1.

Register as a coach and complete a background check

  • Complete the Volunteer Registration in SportsEngine

  • If you are a new Head Coach a member of the Board will reach out to schedule an interview

  • If you are a returning coach or have been approved by the board you will be emailed a link to complete your background check.

AYF or AYC coaching certification

  • Link: AYF or AYC Coach Certification

  • Click on the "Coaching Youth Football: The AYF/ AYC Way" course link

  • NOTE: If you are a returning coach, you may only need to complete the re- certification course.  Check the FAQs to see if you are eligible

  • In the right hand corner there will be cart to add the training course

  • Complete the training and pass the test

  • Print your certificate and keep for the team book documentation

CPR Certification

  • The Football and Cheer Directors will communicate directly with the Head Coaches to coordinate this.

  • CPR Certifications are typically valid for 2 years

Concussion Certification

CDC Heads Up Concussion Course

(Cheer & Tackle)

  • On the right hand side click on "Launch the Heads Up course" link

  • You will need to create an account, registering your email address and a password

  • Once the registration is completed, CDC will send email with link to the training course. 

  • Watch the video and pass the test at the end 

  • Print your certificate and keep for the team book documentation

Hawk Tackling Certification

  • Link: www.smarterfootball.org

  • Click on register and input the coaches information

  • Go to Unit 4 - Coaches Tackle Course

  • Watch the required Hawk Tackling Video -  Completed 4.1 Coaches Tackling Review - Hawk Tackle Video   

  • Click on the test link - Completed 4.1 Coaches Tackling Review - Hawk Tackle Video

  • Complete the training and pass the test

  • Print out certificate and keep for the team book documentation.

8.

Ycada Training Certification

  • This training course is designed for Head Coaches that are associated with AYC.

  • It covers the history of cheer, skill techniques, role as a coach and the rule book.
